THE BIG APPLE

We arrived in New York around 5am Monday; we started the day early with coffee around 7am, but since we barely got any sleep that night (on the plane..) and we didn’t wanna be too tired later that day watching the New York Rangers(!!), we decided to take a nap at the Airbnb before going out exploring the city. After a well-deserved nap, we went to The Butcher’s Daughter for brunch and then we went vintage-shopping! I LOVE vintage and thrift stores! We found a bunch, including: Beacon’s Closet, Buffalo Exchange, Legacy, INA, L Train Vintage, Tokyo Joe, New York Vintage Inc. and stumbled across City Opera Thrift Store (I really recommend this last one!!). We went to almost all of them within the 4 days we had in the city! In addition to vintage shopping the second day as well, we went to lunch at a Mexican place called Tacombi, did some Christmas shopping at Macy's, had dinner at a Ethiopian place, and drinks at a bar called Rue-B, which has live jazz every day! The third day, we went to many cool food and drink places like Rolf's, Ludlow Coffee, New Territories, which has really cool milkshakes (picture above), and Black Top! After that we went to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and the light show at Saks 5th Avenue - it was amazing! Ended the night with drinks at Westlight, a rooftop bar. Our last full day in the city, we spent some time in Brooklyn: had coffee at a super cool cafe called 5 leaves and walked around in the parks and down a street with many cute shops before going to another rooftop bar (Ides) at sunset! And of course we had to check out the christmas market with the ice skating rink at Bryant Park! Still have a lot left on my list of places I want to go and things I want to see in New York, so I need to go back soon!!

Vi kom til New York rundt kl 5 på morgenen på mandag; Vi startet dagen tidlig med kaffe rundt klokka 7, men siden vi knapt fikk søvn den kvelden (på flyet ..) og vi ikke ville være for trøtte senere den dagen på New York Rangers kamp(!), bestemte vi oss for å ta en lur på vår Airbnb før vi gikk ut for å utforske byen. Etter en velfortjent lur, dro vi til The Butcher's Daughter for brunch, og gjorde litti vintage-shopping! Jeg elsker vintage og second hand butikker! Vi fant mange, inkludert: Beacon's Closet, Buffalo Exchange, Legacy, INA, L Train Vintage, Tokyo Joe, New York Vintage Inc. og snublet over City Opera Thrift Store (jeg anbefaler virkelig denne siste!). Vi dro til nesten alle av dem på de 4 dagene vi hadde i byen! I tillegg til vintage shopping den andre dagen, gikk vi til lunsj på et meksikansk sted kalt Tacombi, gjorde litt julehandling på Macy's, hadde middag på et etiopisk sted og drinker på en bar kalt Rue-B, som har live jazz hver dag! Den tredje dagen var vi på mange kule mat- og drikke steder som Rolfs, Ludlow Coffee, New Territories, som har veldig kule milkshakes (bildet over) og Black Top! Etter det gikk vi for å se juletreet på Rockefeller Center og lys-showet på Saks 5th Avenue - det var fantastisk! Endte kvelden med drinker på Westlight, en rooftop-bar. For vår siste hele dag i byen tilbrakte vi litt tid i Brooklyn: hadde kaffe på en superkult kafé kalt 5 Leaves og gikk rundt i to parker der og nedover en gate med mange søte butikker før vi gikk til en annen rooftop-bar (Ides) ved solnedgang! Og selvfølgelig måtte vi sjekke ut julemarkedet med skøytebane i Bryant Park! Fortsatt mye igjen på listen over steder jeg vil gå og ting jeg vil se i New York, så jeg må tilbake snart!!
