This hike was amazing! The breathtaking view from the top and the stunning nature made this hike to the best I've ever been on; I really recommend it! If you haven't been on many hikes before you should probably do some easier ones before this one; I would characterize most of the hike as easy terrain, but the first hill (and also the last since the tour is roundtrip on the same trail) is very steep and tends to be very muddy and slippery since there are so many people constantly walking there. This part of the hike also takes way longer than you would expect: it's only about 1 km, but it feels like half of the hike almost (roundtrip 11 km) because it's so tiring - especially going downwards because it's very hard on your knees. So make sure you have enough time!! You should actually start walking around 8 or 9 am because the parking lot fills up really early (people get there around 6-7am!!!) and then you can also just take your time; the hike takes about 8 hours roundtrip. If you wanna go out on the Troll Tongue you have to expect to wait in line for a while. It depends on the weather and time of year, but the wait is usually from 30 minutes to an hour long. BUT IT IS WORTH IT! And if you're scared of heights: no problem! The tongue is tilted a little bit upwards so you can't see over the edge unless you sit on the very tip and look down (which is NOT recommended!). The rest of the hike is also very pretty and is so worth getting up early for and traveling a long way to experience! So if you are looking for something to do in Norway: this is it! This is now my No.1 on my list of the coolest places in Norway.
PS: don't forget to bring a kvikk lunsj (= quick lunch) - it's a must!
